Product Overview
The architecture of BMC AMI Extended Terminal Assist for IMS (ETA) consists of several key components: the GUI Client, the ETA Server, and the IMS Interface. The GUI Client provides the user interface for managing ETO resources. It communicates with the ETA Server using TCP/IP.
The ETA Server, running on z/OS, is the central component that handles requests from the GUI Client and interacts with the IMS environment. The IMS Interface facilitates communication with IMS, allowing the ETA Server to manage ETO resources. The ETA Server uses standard IMS interfaces to interact with IMS control blocks and system services.
The communication between the GUI Client and the ETA Server is secured using SSL/TLS encryption. The ETA Server stores configuration data and user settings in flat files on the z/OS system. The GUI Client connects to the ETA Server using a configurable port.
The ETA Server listens on this port for incoming connections. The IMS Interface uses standard IMS APIs to manage ETO resources. The system also integrates with RACF for authentication and authorization.
The audit logs capture user actions and system events, providing a detailed record of all activities. The monitoring capabilities provide real-time session status and error reporting. The architecture is designed to provide a secure, efficient, and user-friendly solution for managing IMS ETO resources.
