The Migration Utility architecture comprises several key components: the Analyzer, the Converter, and the Report Generator. The Analyzer module parses and analyzes the Easytrieve source code, identifying potential conversion issues and generating analysis reports. The Converter module translates the Easytrieve code into COBOL, producing COBOL source code and conversion reports.
The Report Generator module creates detailed reports on the conversion process, including statistics, error summaries, and code metrics. These components communicate through a combination of file I/O and JCL-based batch processing. The Analyzer reads Easytrieve source code from input datasets, and the Converter writes the generated COBOL code to output datasets.
Configuration files, specified via JCL, control the behavior of the Analyzer and Converter. The utility uses standard z/OS datasets for input and output, and it does not require any specific databases or storage mechanisms beyond the z/OS file system. Network requirements are minimal, as the utility operates within the z/OS environment.
The primary interface is the command-line interface, accessible through TSO/ISPF or batch jobs.
