The architecture of Infoprint Server is centered around several key components designed to manage print jobs within a z/OS environment. The Print Interface acts as the entry point, accepting print requests from local and remote clients via TCP/IP. IP Printway is responsible for routing print requests from the JES spool to printers, using configuration settings to determine the destination.
NetSpool intercepts print requests from VTAM applications, such as CICS and IMS, and stores them on the JES spool for processing by IP Printway. Infoprint Central provides a web-based interface for monitoring and managing print jobs and printers. The system leverages z/OS security features, including access control lists and role-based access control, for authentication and authorization.
Configuration is managed through z/OS configuration files and the Infoprint Server configuration tools. The system's design emphasizes integration with JES and VTAM applications, ensuring seamless printing from existing systems. The use of TCP/IP for communication enables remote printing capabilities.
