Share Your ExperienceProduct Overview
The architecture of DCF is centered around its core components: SCRIPT/VS, GML, SMFF, and FLIP. SCRIPT/VS is the primary markup language, providing extensive control over document formatting. GML offers a simplified approach for basic formatting tasks.
SMFF is a subset of SCRIPT/VS specifically for handling mathematical formulas. FLIP is responsible for managing and indexing fonts. These components interact during document processing.
Users create documents using SCRIPT/VS or GML markup within text files. These files are then submitted to DCF for processing. DCF reads the markup, interprets the commands, and formats the document accordingly.
The formatted output can be directed to various output devices, such as printers or display devices. There are no specific APIs exposed. The primary storage mechanism is the file system of the mainframe operating system (z/OS, z/VM, z/VSE).
Configuration parameters are stored in system libraries and control the behavior of DCF. There are no specific network ports required for DCF's operation, as it runs locally on the mainframe.
