Data Ace's architecture comprised several key components. The Control Language Processor parsed user-defined transformation rules. The Transformation Engine executed these rules, performing operations like date aging and currency conversion.
The File I/O Modules handled the reading and writing of VSAM and sequential files. Data Ace operated on the z/OS platform, with data stored in VSAM and sequential files. The primary interface was through JCL jobs, which invoked Data Ace and specified a control file.
The control file defined the transformations. Data Ace did not expose any APIs. The tool's network requirements were minimal, as it ran on a single z/OS system.
Data Ace is no longer supported. Modern data integration tools, such as IBM InfoSphere DataStage, offer similar functionality with enhanced features and broader platform support.
